While there are many perks and advantages to being the proud owner of a Webster City RV camper, there is a particular maintenance must that isn’t exactly the most glamorous part about RVing – one that we like to call RV Dumping. It is important to know how, when and where to dump your waste tanks in order to keep your RV’s waste system clean and performing properly.
The following list, provided by RVdumps.com, gives you a few quick tips for properly dumping your RV’s black and gray water waste tanks the correct and legal way. You can also reference the site to locate the nearest dump site to your location so that you can quickly and easily lighten your RV’s load and be on your way to your next adventure.
1. While emptying both the black and gray waste tanks, always dump the black-water tank before the gray-water tank. The “soapy water” from the gray tank can then help to clean the residue from the hose by following the black-water tank.
2. Wait until the black-water tank is at least 2/3 full before dumping. When hooked up at a campsite make sure to leave the black-water tank valve closed. This will cause liquids to drain, and create hardening of solid waste on the bottom of the tank.
3. For easier handling, use a sewer hose about 6 to 8 feet long. The dumpsite may not be equipped with a garden hose so be sure to bring an extra.
4. Take safety and health precautions and wear protective rubber gloves. Do not touch the outside of your gloves after use, and if you should come into contact with any waste, wash your hands with antibacterialsoap immediately.
5. Be a courteous RVer and always leave the dump area cleaner than the way you found it for the next person.
