Sometimes even the most well thought out plans can
encounter unexpected hitches. This is true for any kind of plan, and taking a
trip in your Webster City RV is no exception. We all know that it is
recommended to drive during the day time hours to increase your safety on the
road, but sometimes we find ourselves behind schedule and driving in the dark
is inevitable. The following list, courtesy of The Weather Channel, provides
you with the necessary actions recommended by The National Safety Council that you
should take when RVing at night.
·
Always have your RV night time ready: be sure to
keep your headlights, tail lights, signal lights clean and properly working.
Also be sure to keep your windows clean for better visibility, inside and out.
·
If you notice that an oncoming vehicle has their
lights on high, focus on the right side of the road to avoid the glare and use
it as a guide for steering.
·
Increase the distance between you and the car
ahead of you as it is more difficult to judge depth perception and other’s
speeds at night.
·
If you are following another vehicle, make sure
to keep your headlights on low beams to avoid impairing their vision.
·
When driving in early twilight, it can be
difficult to see. Go ahead and turn on your headlights during this time – not
to help you see better but to help
other drivers see you more clearly.
·
If you should run into any RV trouble, be sure
to pull over off the road as far as possible and turn on your flashers as well
as interior lights. It is also a good idea to have reflecting triangles on
board your RV to be placed 300 feet behind you in order to signal approaching
traffic that you are there.
