Making Banana Boats

When organizing your next RV excursion, it is important to plan your meals ahead of time to make sure you arrive at your destination prepared with the necessary ingredients and supplies. If you are RVing with kids, planning your meals and snacks might take some extra consideration. If you want to get the kiddos involved in the cooking, the following dessert recipe called Banana Boats is the perfect dish. (Recipe courtesy of AllRecipes.com)

Ingredients
·        1 Banana
·        ½ cup Chocolate Chips (semisweet is best)
·        ½ cup Marshmallows (miniature works best for faster melting)
·        Other small candies (optional)
·        Dollop or two of Peanut Butter (optional)

Directions
1.      Using a small knife, slit through your banana lengthwise with the peel still on, making sure not to cut all the way through the banana to the other side. This is important to keep the melted ingredients from falling on your lap. We wouldn’t want to sink our boat now would we!
2.      Stuff the inside of the banana with your favorite toppings like marshmallows, chocolate chips and whatever other candies or treats your sweet tooth has the desire for – you are on vacation after all!
3.      Wrap each banana fully in aluminum foil and cook over your campfire, the grill, or in your oven at 300 degrees for about 5 minutes or until the toppings have melted and/or softened. Cook time may vary slightly depending on size of the banana and the amount of ingredients used.
4.      Once cooked, let foil cool before opening up and digging in. Enjoy!
