Iowa in the Summer

Summer has descended upon us! Those of us who love RVing know what that means… it’s time to get outside! While there are many places to travel to this summer, some of the first events of the season are right here or a short drive away! Here we give you a heads up on all the events your RV would love to take you to.

Friday Fest- Music in Pattee Park

Come out this Friday the 22^nd for free concerts in Pattee Park in Perry. There is something for everyone so bring the whole family! Don’t forget to include the RV, you can set up your own comfortable spot right along with the crowd and enjoy the festivities. Why not bring the grill and have a picnic? If you’d rather focus on the fun, there will be plenty of places to buy food and snacks. Are your children too active for the leisurely concert atmosphere? There will be plenty of activities for children and crafts to keep their minds and hands busy!

Flower Power 5K

Head out to the capital this Saturday the 23^rd for a blast from the past. The 5K road race will carry runners along the Des Moines River. Don’t like to run? Walk or run … it’s your choice! The attire is ‘60s themed, so get in your closet and pull out your old duds you thought you’d never see again! Or have fun creating your own retro look to fit in the fun. Let your personality shine for the Des Moines Botanical and Environmental Center at 8am. Breakfast will be provided in the Botanical Center.

Greek Festival

Want to get out this Saturday but want to stick closer to home? Come to Mason City and then travel even farther away – Greece! The Greek Festival will be going on all day. Get your taste of delicious traditional Greek dishes, beautiful hand-made clothing, and music that will force you to get out of your seat! This event will be held at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church with shuttles for distant parking. This is always a fun time and a great chance to learn something new!

Gavin DeGraw & Colbie Caillat

Want to go a little bit farther out? Get the RV ready for a scenic trip to Sioux City! The platinum musical talent of Gavin DeGraw and Grammy winning Colbie Caillat will be performing at the Orpheum Theatre next Tuesday the 26^th. They will be belting out your favorites in the stunning setting starting at 7:30 entertainment needs. Make sure to get your tickets before they are sold out!
