Summer is in full swing, which for many Iowa RVers means it is time for an extended vacation in their RVs! Packing, making sure the RV has been serviced and is running properly, and mapping out a route are some of the first things that come to mind, but what happens to your mail? With satellites and other forms of internet portals, a large segment of the population can survive short periods of time without the need for mail. But sometimes RVers need to receive important mail or want to receive their mail when they are going to be away for an extended period of time. While most RV parks don’t accept mail for their guests, there are alternatives to consider for your RV trip.
First of all, it takes some planning. If you know where you’re headed, it is a good idea to know how to get in touch with the local post offices. This way you can have your mail forwarded from your home post office to a local one. This is probably the easiest thing (and least expensive) way to route your mail, but if you need it, it is a viable option. It has its limitations, but luckily there are other options if post office forwarding won’t work with the type of trip you have planned. There are also places called forwarding services, which specialize in people who are not staying at one central location. Make sure to do a good amount of research on the service you choose, and choose one you feel 100% comfortable with. Mail is important and getting it in a timely fashion can be of the upmost importance.
What mail service if any do you use while on vacation? Do you have any suggestions for fellow RVers?
