RV trip to Sioux Falls

Summer is winding down, especially if you have children, but that doesn’t mean it’s over! There is still time for a getaway just perfect for your Webster City RV. Coming in at around four hours northwest of here, we recommend historic Sioux Falls, South Dakota!

Falls Park

When traveling, you probably want to see beautiful scenery. This feature is quite prominent at Falls Park. The landscape is breathtaking with a mix of waterfalls and walking paths for all. Native Americans loved the spot so much that they were eager to share its glory upon meeting the Europeans. The city was founded around the park in 1856 and is still the center of recreation today. The area stretches across 123 acres with 7,400 gallons of water headed towards the 100ft of falls daily. There are ongoing activities so entertaining the troops is easy!

African American History Museum

Sioux Falls is rich in ethnic history including a deep background with the African American community. Partnering with many schools and universities, their goal is to educate the public on the sufferings and triumphs of the African American people. The information they provide is very interesting; such as the first man of his kind to enter South Dakota by the name of York. He was part of the Lewis and Clark expedition but was not a free man. He is just one on a list of many presented by the museum. Learning more about the people of this community shows you how far they have come and how they have shaped the culture of Sioux Fall.

Heartland Corn Maze

If you are looking for a unique stop during your trip, you will want to experience this! The tall corn stalks allow for a perfect place to carve out a maze. Given a map and a set of questions, guests are encouraged to step foot in the 11 acre plot towards checkpoints on their way out. There is even a free treat involved for those who find the hidden checkpoint! If you feel confident, wait a few hours until nightfall and come back with your flashlight. Tours start by moonlight and offer a new level of fun.

Has this last minute trip gotten you to think about hitting the road in your camper? Tell us in the comments below if you plan on getting out of town. We’d also love to hear from anyone who has been to Sioux Falls, SD and what your favorite stops were!
